Helgi’s design takes inspiration from Orkney’s Viking past - a traditional pub with a slate floor and wooden panelled walls - it’s small but perfectly formed. The ground floor bar is well stocked with draft and bottled beers, wines and spirits plus a good selection of malts. We offer five Orkney beers on draft, a wide selection of Orkney beers by the bottle and various local malt whiskys and gins. We also pride ourselves on our extensive cocktail list, which features many of our own creations as well as old favourites. And our wine list has been carefully selected by our local wine merchant. 

Helgi's is an over 18's pub, and provides the perfect setting for adults to wind down and relax, whether it’s a lunch time catch up with friends, a teatime pint with colleagues or a celebration with family. At the weekends, Helgi's is also a bustling bar with drinkers and is a great stop off on a night out. Our upstairs seating area is an attractive room with great harbour views, where tables can be reserved for a meal, a quiet drink can be enjoyed in the afternoon, and the room can also be booked privately for functions such as hen parties, work doos or meetings. We boast a friendly, experienced and hard working bar team who are always willing to help. 

Our menu has evolved greatly since we first opened in 2009, but we still stick to our original ethos of producing quality comfort food which is homemade using as much locally sourced produce as possible. Our menu caters for more tastes and more dietary requirements than ever before.

So whether you are looking for a quiet daytime pint, a three-course meal or a spot to drop into on a night out, Helgi's has something to whet your appetite and satisfy your hunger.

Helgi's has tables available to book on the ground floor in the bar area, or on the 1st floor in our upstairs seating area where there are two window tables with great harbour views. We offer table service, although orders can be placed at the bar too. There is also seating at the bar available. Our menus offer a good selection of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. Bookings are advised although walk ins are very welcome. Helgi's has an over 18's only policy. Our upstairs seating area holds a maximum of 22 people for a sit down meal, but with the size and restrictions of the room not all 22 would be at one table, they would be sat at smaller tables. We can accommodate a few more people in an informal setting or gathering. We can fit up to 18 people at one table in an L-shape, and up to 12-14 at one long table. Depending on the date and time of the booking we can provide the room as private, free of charge, for parties of 14 or more people, who are all eating. Room hire charges will be applied for smaller bookings requiring the room private.
